Hiring a tutor for SAT prep is a big investment of time and money. You want a big result.
You want to get the best score possible, one that can really boost your chances of getting admitted to the college or university of your dreams.
You also know that there’s a lot to do during your junior and senior years of high school and you’re not exactly sitting around with a lot of time on your hands.
You don’t want something that will add to your stress level; you want an experience that makes your life better.
The right SAT tutor should increase your confidence, calm your fears, inspire and motivate you, help you to focus, and take an approach to tutoring that works best for you personally to help you learn without stress.
You want an experience like Samantha’s:
“I loved studying for the SATs. My tutor knew just how to coach me through the process so I not only got a great score but I also loved doing it.” -Samantha G., Los Angeles
Watch Samantha describe her experience.
Let’s be honest.
It’s easy to find a tutor who understands the material on the test and the test taking methods.
It’s hard to find one who understands his students.
I’ve been tutoring kids for the SAT, the ACT, and the SAT Subject Tests for 12 years, and during that time I’ve learned a lot about how people learn and perform at their best, and what can get in the way.
I’m patient. I have a good understanding of the relationship between learning and emotionality, between the beliefs and expectations that a student has about herself and how she’ll perform on the test.
I know the material very well and I’ve worked with a lot of students at all levels of ability. I can quickly size up a student’s strengths and weaknesses, infer the strategies she’s using, and show her how to maximize her strengths and minimize her weaknesses.
Most of all, I show my students how to put it all together and get that inner shift– the right frame of mind that builds confidence and an expectation of success. Then the material covered on the test, the problem solving skills, and even the level of focus you need to do really well become pretty easy to learn.
When you give a motivated student a highly skilled tutor or academic coach, you can get extraordinary results. The real question isn’t whether it’s possible, it’s how to achieve it.
